Winter skin care

Cold weather and dry indoor air steals moisture from your skin, so our winter skin can become dry, flaky and itchy.

Here are some tips to help keep your skin healthy and happy through the winter months.

1. Hang on to the moisture that you have

The natural oils that your skin produces also help protect and keep it healthy.  Avoid long baths and showers and, tempting as it may be, don’t have the water too hot!  Use a body oil afterwards to lock in the moisture.

2. Add moisture from the inside out

Increasing your water intake will help hydrate your skin.

3. Don’t forget your sunscreen

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean the damaging sun rays won’t get through – they will!

4. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Consider switching to a richer moisturiser in winter.  Rose Moisturiser is very nourishing for day time, and to keep moisture locked in all night try my Liquid Gold Oil.  Consider overnight deep moisturiser treatments which can help particularly dry areas like hands, feet, elbows knees and lips.

Cover with cotton gloves and socks to hold the moisture in all night long.  Try our Foot Balm and Body Butter for these treatments.

5. Take extra care

Winter skin is more fragile and if you are prone to skin condition like eczema or psoriasis be sure to avoid any irritants or allergens.  Everything Balm is ideal for soothing eczema, psoriasis and any other dry skin issues.
